Hall Effect Sensors
Hall effect sensors mounted on cyclic controller
Shown here is the tiny Honeywell SS495A Hall effect sensor and 8mm cube neodymium magnet
Pitch axis sensor
Hall sensor pin terminals are soldered to a circuit strip board which is epoxied to an adjustable aluminum bracket.
Magnet is epoxied into a machined hole in the aluminum bushing, with the north pole of magnet facing the thin side of the sensor.
Magnets can simply be flipped over to change direction of calibration travel if necessary before being epoxied.
Magnet placement is about 1/4" from pitch axis centerline, for the range of travel of my cyclic controllers.
Roll axis sensor
In this "side mount" configuration an aluminum disc holds the magnet for the roll axis.
Non magnetic aluminum sensor brackets provide rigidity and protection for each sensor.
From stop to stop on the roll and pitch axis,
the Honeywell SS495A sensor output range measures from about .2 volts to 4.8 volts when vcc is 5 volts.
